Joint Pain

Is there any scientific explainations for why some people feel ARTHRITIS PAIN during rainy weather or before?

Some Arthritis sufferers are said to be able to "feel" rain is on the way, or feel more acute symptoms even though they may be indoors during rainy or colder weather. Why? Any hard evidence? Any web links? Thanks!

  1. yes they can tell. i once saw a study they had done on the learning channel. it has to do with the drop or rise in barometric pressure. some people are more able to feel when the barometric pressure drops, others when it rises. from what i could tell it has to do with expanding and contracting of the natural fluids in the joints when the barometric pressure changes. in the study i saw 85% of people atudied COULD predict bad weather acurately
  2. it is most definitely the weather. I suffer an knee injury about 15 years ago. it took me out 2 years to figured it out. I usually feel the pain about a day or 2 before it rains.. Humidity it's a big factor. I lived in phoenix for some time, i lived in rocky point for a few years, then I went to Mexico city, and the pain was different in each place. I can predict rain and humidity within a day or 2 with 95 % aaccuracy.
  3. My Orthopaedist once suggested that this is linked to atmospheric pressure. In low pressure, joints can swell a little bit more, making it more painful for you. With high atmospheric pressure, joints will swell and expand a little bit less. But he agrees with me that antibiotics are the real answer.
