Can dogs take Celebrex to relieve arthritis pain?
Please answer this if you are a veterinary professional, physician, or a dog owner whose pet is being treated with this drug. Chill out, I am asking because I am concerned about someone's dog. Yikes!

- Yes. Most dogs do take human medication.
- NO YOU IDIOT!! DON'T GIVE A DOG MEDICATION! ANIMAL CRUELTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'LL ASPCA ON YOUR ASS!
- no DON'T TRY THIS AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!
- I have never heard of Celebrex before. I work at a rescue, and spend most of my days at the vets surgery with sick animals. However, I do know that rimadyl, a square brown tablet, is very good for arthritic dogs. We are given this quite a lot, when we have dogs that are stiff or arthritic. Metacam is another drug, which relieves swelling. I have used both of these drugs a lot, and in 8 out of 10 cases, it works wonders.
- Celebrex is not the best NSAID for a dog. Many human pain medications will poison a dog or cat. I give my Bernese mountain dog Mobic (Meloxicam). Aloha
- I am an animal healer and my advice would be this: This drug was made for humans. It will not kill your dog, but there are much more suitable remedies to alleviate arthritis in dogs, and someone already mentioned one that is quite popular. As a natural healer I would advise natural remedies, because they do not have the negative side effects that drugs have, and more than that, you can actually work towards repairing the joint rather than just tackling the symptoms. If you would like my advice, perhaps following inspection of some of the results of my work with animals in relation to joint/bone healing on the Dhaxem website, I will be pleased to help.
- No! Never give a dog human medications unless approved by a vet. They make arthritis medications for dogs. Get some from you vet.
