Joint Pain

How do I deal with arthritis pain naturally? I find analgesics cause depression.?

I have psoriatic arthritis. Sort of like Rheumatoid, but mine is very severe. I take methotrexate and remicade as systemic treatments. I have been on opiods for years but find they depress me and wonder if anti-inflammatory does as well. Cannot life left arm anymore due to pain and lack of strength from the arthritis. Thanks Sorry. I cannot lift my left arm.....

  1. You don't mention what type of arthritis you have - could you confirm? Prevention is best - speak to occupational therapist or search web for joint protection advice. Heat therapy and massage may also help. A couple of my patients have used homeopathic remedies to minimise pain and swelling - just make sure you go a qualified homeopathic practitioner.
  2. my grandma always complains about arthritis. i regularly see her relaxing her feet in some lukewarm water with sea salt for a couple of minutes. we sometimes also take it in turns to massage her body gently. im afraid there is nt a proper cure for arthritis. you may want to increase you calcium intake, maybe you could have stronger bones, but also maybe now it is too late. anyway hope you ll do fine tc
  3. Fish oil is supposed to help.
  4. One of the things that you can try is hot/warm bath with essential oils or better yet get a massage. These will relax you and hopefully alleviate some of the pain, at least temporarily. Check out this site for more info and good luck: http://www.symptoms-treatments.com/symptoms/arthritis-symptoms.php
  5. Your best bet is Omega 3 fatty acids. These are found in fish oils and some plants. There is much research showing that omega 3 can help control inflammation as well as OTC anti-inflammatories and nearly as well as prescription. Besides there are many other health benefits. You have a serious type of autoimmune disease. One of the most important things you can do for it is to exercise. I know that this is hard but if you do not use it you loose it. Warm water exercise is one of the best types of exercise for your condition. I with you the best. Rusty Seeing a physical therapist may help a lot with your shoulder.
