Can you give a cat a baby tylenol or aspirin for arthritis pain?

- give him or her a benedryl. my vet said this was ok
- No on the tylenol. Check with your vet for something to give the cat. There are prescription meds that are made just for these things. My dog is on Rimadyl. She also enjoys the electric blanket and heating pad.
- I don't think so, ask a vet to be sure.
- NO - Tylenol is deadly to cats, and aspirin isn't much better. Cats are very sensitive to many medicines that are safe for humans & dogs, so please don't ever give your cat anything without checking with your vet first. Call your vet & let him or her know about your cat's pain - your vet can examine your cat and prescribe a medicine that's safe for it.
- Human medications can kill cats, including baby tylenol.
- Aspirin is lethal for animals. My vet prescribes a liquid pain killer called Metacam which is administered with a dropper. It's easier than trying to give a pill and works really well. Hope your kitty feels better soon.
- Absolutely Not!!!! Aspirin can kill a cat. See your vet about his pain!!!
- My 22 yr old cat had severe arthritis and was helped by a number of things - shots, some homeopathic medicine etc. Unless you cat is VERY old you don't treat arthritis - and certainly not with any human medication. I have heard that vets sometimes approve 1/4 baby aspirin every three days. I hardly think that would help a cat much and it WILL damage the liver if given over any length of time. So if you think your cat has pain (and how do you know this anyway?) you must have ANY medication or treatment prescribed by a qualified veterinarian.
- check with your vet....many medications that are safe for humans are lethal to cats....you might try keeping a warm towel or heating pad (on low) around for your cat to lay on when he's having lots of pain
- No, any kind of aspirin can be very dangerous and sometimes even fatal to cats. If your cat is in any pain, the best thing to do would be to call your vet and see if he can give you anything for your cat.
- Besides being toxic to cats, these pain killers (aspirin and tylenol) will not help arthritis pain either in humans or animals. Best consult a vet.
