Joint Pain

I have mid back pain in the muscles that parallel the spine. Dull pain with a very hard muscle.?

My doctor gave me 5mg of cyclobenzaprine which helped but the muscle pain and condition (very hard, with distinct line shape, not a ball or knot) returned. It never really went away it just got smaller. I've had this pain for several years and now that I have a child that I need to carry. It's very unconfortable and slowly wears me out. It's not a sharp pain but a dull pain that last all day until I'm able to get off my feet and rest my back.

  1. It dounds lke you have a muscle that spasms. It could be that your back is not allaigned causing a muscle spasm....I suggest you go to a chiropractor and have them work on your back. Ask them to give you some stretches and exercises to losen up your muscles and strengthen them as well, to release that spastic muscle. You can do exercises in between the chiropractor appointments, to help keep the back allaigned and muscles loose. Good luck
  2. Hi This will not cure anything, but it sure relieves pain for us for a few hours at a time. Sunjing for topical pain relief: http://bassett.vitamark.com/shopping/display.asp?CODE=415 Hope this helps! It works for us. Bob and Anna
  3. If you told your doctor that you've had this pain for several years and he gave you a pill...Find Another Doctor! This could be caused by a few problems: 1) The back muscles will tighten to protect an injury. The injury could have healed a long time ago, but the muscles are still spasming. Physical therapy will help. 2) There is still a problem, in which case you need to identify it and treat the problem, not the symptom like your dumb doctor did. (sorry, no offense) 3) You are doing something on a regular basis that causes your back stress. It could be emotional stress like your job, or it could be ergonomic like resting your elbows too much on the arm rests of your chair. Whatever the problem is, find a doctor willing to help you find the cause of the problem, instead of treating the symptoms. Meanwhile, physical therapy is much better than chemical therapy. I've suffered back problems. I understand. Good luck to you. :)
  4. Its the spine curvature problem, when nerves are pulled, muscles on the side become very tight. so go for manual spine manupulation therapy, carry child will be more taxing on the spine
  5. Really watch your posture, especially when holding you child. And if you carry you baby on one hip more than the other, try alternating hips. You should probably get a massage from a licensed massage therapist. I think you muscle is being "overworked" and is getting real tight. Good luck.
  6. i have the same problem! when my back is spazzing, i have trouble moving and it feels like a million pounds just came down on your back. i go to physical therapy every day, and i must say it helps a lot. i am getting an MRI and a bone scan soon. that might be something to look into.
