Joint Pain

Does the joint pain relief drops work for dogs?

I've seen this advertise on TV and my sister's dog seems to be in pain in his hind legs. Thought I get some opinions before I buy this for her dog.

  1. Glucosamine products for humans are available as two forms - glucosamine hydrochloride and glucosamine sulfate. While the two forms are similar in how they work in the body, they differ in their purity and sodium content. The glucosamine hydrochloride form is a more pure form, containing 99% glucosamine and is sodium-free. The sulfate form, on the other hand is only 80% pure glucosamine as it contains about 20% sodium (needed as a preservative). This means you would need more of the sulfate form than the hydrochloride form to provide the same amount of glucosamine, the active ingredient. There are glucosamine products available specifically designed for pets and usually have a yummy flavor making it easier to give to the animal! Before starting any kind of supplimentation the dog's vet should be contacted to make sure this is ok for the dog.
