Joint Pain

osteoarthritis in the jaw....what can i do to treat it or at least manage the pain?

i recently went to a facial pain doctor who thought i might have osteoarthrtis in my jaw joint. I have been suffering sever headaches that have gotten to the point i have plain out cried from the pain ( i dont usually cry). i have the grating sound occuring when i open/close my mouth. i can only open my mouth 42 mm when he thinks i should be able to open it at least 50mm. The doctor did a test where he pushed on different areas of my face....and i had alot of discomfort. he also thinks i have a mechanical problkem along with tendonitis. What are treatments for osteoarthritis for young people ( im only 16)? and does this sound like osteoarthrits, from my reading it sounds like a dead ringer but i want to stay open to everything. i have had a injury to my jaw ( i fainted while i was running and landed right on my jaw on the side i have the majority of the pain) and this was about 13 months ago so about 3 months before the pain started. I have earaches, blurred vision, numbness...

  1. Did the doctor do x-rays or a c.t. scan? I would think that would be in order. If that doesn't show anything from the trauma, I would see an orthodontist about TMJ.
