- His orthodontist might prescribe him a mild pain medicine. I suggest you ask him opinion.
- I would recommend nurofen, that's what I used when i had braces fitted and tightened.
- over the counter would probally be just plain Tylenol, maybe 2 of them. Or Ibuprofen as well...or ask the orthodontist.
- His dentist should have prescribed him some pain medication. Why they didn't is a mystery. Oralgel works and so does Acetaminophen, but you do have the risk of rye syndrome though it's rare. I would try calling his dentist back to see if they can give him a scrip for some low dosage codeine.
- Always prefer natural products 100% effective natural products are available for more info visit http://www.healthplus.co.nr
- Over the counter you are looking at either Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Don't give him aspirin as it is associated with rye's syndrome (Tylenol is not associated with rye's syndrome as one poster suggested). I would call the orthodontist and ask for a prescription if Tylenol or Ibuprofen doesn't help.
- Call the dentist right away. S/he can fax in a prescription to your pharmacy. They usually prescribe a stronger Tylenol which has less caffeine than the over-the-counter version.
- If he is crying about it, you need to get the orthodontist on the phone pronto and get a prescription for pain that he can take. There's no reason why he should suffer like that. Tylenol and Advil can work sometimes, but the dosage has to be adjusted for kids; don't give him aspirin. The best course of action is to get the doctor on the phone and insist that he prescribe something.
