Is topical application of pain relief balm is harmful for my baby?

I am 18 weeks pregnant. Sometimes I experience a stabbing pain in my right side lower back, which does not allow me to walk or to move. The pain is like joint paint between two bones (as there is some deficiency of lubricant between the two bones). I am using Omnigel and getting relief. But I am anxious and want to know whether it has any bad effect on my baby. Please throw some light on this.

2. yes i agree with the other answer but you could consult you pharamasist--also you could be suffering from sciaitica some women experiance this in pregnancy...seek medical attention as you are 18 weeks and this could get worse as you go along in you pregnacy good luck with you and baby
